Christie & Blossom – Horse Photography Lancashire

I love shoots like this. After spending a bit of time getting to know Christie and her horse Blossom we got under way. As with all my shoot to start with its not about taking photos. Christie and I worked together to get Blossom settled. Its not everyday you end up with a person you don’t know with load of unfamiliar camera equipment in your field! It didn’t take Blossom long to settle at all, a true equine model!

When ever I’m with horses and riders I’m always conscious of safety, for the horse, for the rider and for me. In hand is always a preferred way to start for me, just until everyone is comfortable but it also leads to some beautiful images and gives me the chance to get beautiful images showing the connection between the two.

Blossom was so relaxed on the shoot so we decided to try a few different things. Christie has been telling me how she spent a lot of time just sitting in with Blossom, enjoying her company and just loving being together. It seemed like a very beautiful way to capture their relationship. There are often magic moment in an equine shoot and this was one for me. Within moment of Christie sitting down Blossom was there. This is the resulting image.
