Beth and Moo – Horse Photography in Leyland
The call came in, someone needed horse photography in Leyland. It was the kind of job I love. The brief was to try to capture the relationship between the the horse and rider. In this case it was Beth and her beautiful horse Moo.
Its common for everyone to be a little nervous at the start of an equine photo shoot, myself included. One of the joys of the job is you never know quite how things are going to go. How will the horse react to the equipment? How nervous will the rider be in front of the camera? Will the weather play nicely and give the kind of atmosphere I look for in my images. So much is down to reacting during the shoot.
That’s why I think the most important first step is to build relationships. That includes between me and the rider and the horse. So we take our time.
The joy of taking time and building relationships is things just start to happen naturally. Its not easy to stage a photo with a horse so its about working together to get everyone into position and wait for the moment. The image above is a personal favourite from the shoot. Beth and Moo had a very beautiful relationship and I feel this image especially captures it.
